Vision
The University of Global Peace aims to create an environment where every individual can experience an authentic and peaceful atmosphere. Through this foundation, the University aspires to help all global citizens attain true peace.
By studying and practically applying Theravada Buddhist teachings at a university level, we seek to cultivate inner peace, wisdom, Metta (Loving-kindness), Karuna (Compassion), Mudita (Sympathetic Joy), and Upekkha (Equanimity) within our students. Consequently, these noble virtues will flourish within the students' families, organizations, societies, and among all individuals connected to them.
The University of Global Peace aspires to become a successful, peace-based Buddhist education center for both local and international students within the next decade. Through learning, teaching, researching, and applying Theravada Buddhist teachings, we aim to establish an educational institution that guides all humanity from inner peace to outer peace.
Mission
The University of Global Peace is dedicated to disseminating peace through university-level education rooted in the fundamental principles of Theravada Buddhism.
The University provides comprehensive educational programs that integrate the theory and practice of Applied Buddhism, with a specific focus on Master's and Doctoral degrees. We nurture the educational and spiritual development of students through lectures, research, meditation practice, and community service.
Students will experience a tangible transformation in both their academic and spiritual lives. Our goal is to produce individuals who possess increased wisdom oriented toward peace and who are filled with loving-kindness and compassion.
We envision our graduates emerging as peace ambassadors, Buddhist scholars, social leaders, and individuals who actively support the journey from inner peace to global peace.
Values
The following core values, which shape both inner and outer peace, guide the direction of the University of Global Peace:
- Peace: Central to both instruction and daily living, expanding from the internal to the external.
- Metta (Loving-kindness): Encouraging goodwill and friendliness towards others.
- Karuna (Compassion): The desire to alleviate the suffering of all citizens of Myanmar and the world.
- Mudita (Sympathetic Joy): Rejoicing in the success and fame of others.
- Upekkha (Equanimity): The ability to live in accordance with the Dhamma, remaining balanced in both favorable and unfavorable circumstances.
- Metta-Based Service: Striving to translate mental loving-kindness and compassion into verbal and physical actions for the benefit of all beings.
- Paññā (Wisdom): Systematic understanding of Buddhist teachings for the benefit of self and others, and the personal realization of the Dhamma.
- From Inner Peace to Outer Peace: The recognition that genuine peace can only reach the external world when it begins within.
